Opportunities abound in Berkley...
Our community boasts great parks, passionate citizens, and a top-notch school district. Cana is celebrating its 36th year of ministry in Berkley. We are a congregation that possess numerous strengths and is full of uniquely gifted members. This September Cana’s ministry will focus on three different opportunities:
Sunday Worship:
Every Sunday we will gather around music, word, and sacrament to celebrate a God who is with us and for us. Our congregation’s weekly Sunday worship experience provides an opportunity to honor the people who are already present at Cana. Sunday worship connects us with our ancestors. Cana’s Sunday worship experience is adaptable, hopeful, and transformational.
“The Backyard Playroom:”
Cana has a long history of sharing its space with the Berkley community. Berkley is a neighborhood overflowing with young children. Through our congregation’s partnership with the Berkley Moms Club, we are transforming our former nursery into a high-quality indoor play space. “The Backyard Playroom” will create a safe space for children under five to play, learn, and thrive. “The Backyard Playroom” will be a place for parents/ grandparents to connect and relax. “The Backyard Playroom” is Cana’s gift to the young families who reside in Berkley, Huntington Woods, Oak Park, and Royal Oak.
Whirl Worship:
A Wednesday night partnership between Cana Lutheran and Greenfield Presbyterian. Whirl Worship is designed for children and families of all shapes and sizes. Age-appropriate programming is geared towards children ages 3 years old through 5th grade. Nursery care is provided for younger children. Programming is also provided for adults who are looking for a time and place to begin their Christian faith journey alongside their young children. The program is structured to be the primary weekly worship opportunity for its participants. Whirl Worship is committed to "inclusivity", space for questions, and opportunities to positively impact our neighborhood. Check out the Whirl Worship website whirlworship.org.
Moving forward Cana seeks to celebrate the people who are already engaged in our congregation and value the gifts, insights, and passions of our neighbors. Cana must be connected to the Berkley community. With God’s help, we are setting new tables. Join us this September for Sunday morning worship, “The Backyard Playroom,” and/ or Whirl Worship.
